Mark your calendar for the First Annual Tri-State Open martial arts tournament on September 25, 2010 in Cooksville, MD.

Featuring over 200 divisions in forms, weapons, sparring, grappling, and BJJ for kids and adult of all skill levels, the Tri-State Open is positioned to have some of the finest level of martial arts competition in the Maryland, DC, and Virginia area. Spearheaded by Seth Ismart and D&S Karate Studios (established 1998), the Tri-State Open brings together a management team with decades of tournament and martial arts instruction experience along with the collaboration and strong support from several local martial arts schools.

We are proud to offer special prizes for competitors, including custom sparring gloves for all 1st place sparring winners and cash awards for adult black belt grand champions (e.g., $300 for BB forms/weapons, men’s sparring, and women’s sparring overall grand champions). As a commitment to a family friendly environment and customer satisfaction, we are offering a special “first timers” sparring divisions for 11 & younger underbelt juniors. In addition to the standard MASMAL forms, weapons, and sparring divisions, kids can enjoy a unique, fun, and safe division called “bopper” sparring to increase coordination, focus, and physical fitness. To showcase the region’s finest talent and camaraderie, men’s black belt team sparring will close the event along with men’s and women’s sparring.
